In 2022, United Geophysical (Nigeria) Limited identified a strategic opportunity in the Nigerian seismic data acquisition market to field a Transition Zone (TZ) crew utilizing the latest shallow water Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) technology. In doing so, UG(N)L now provides Operators and Oil companies with an opportunity to acquire data in areas previously omitted from exploration programs.
Inherent problems historically associated with recording equipment limitations and hazardous operating environments, typically characterized by irregular coastlines with variable terrain and water depths up to 10m. The latest generation of marine and land nodes now allow seamless access across the transition zone providing superior near offset data with continuity of offset and azimuth distribution.
Having recently completed the acquisition of 2,387km2 of high resolution 3D TZ seismic data, UG(N)L’s marine crew combines state-of-the-art recording assets with a fleet of specialized support vessels including a Mother vessel (MV Victory). This provides the capability to undertake any TZ or shallow marine project along the Nigerian continental margin.
Combined with a fleet of specialized support vessels including a Mother vessel (MV Victory), UG(N)L is equipped to acquire TZ data within all coastal and shallow marine concessions.
